MediaTek launches Dimensity 920, Dimensity 810 6nm chips

The Dimensity 920 and Dimensity 810 chipsets from Mediatek have just been announced. They are based on TSMC's 6nm manufacturing process and are a development of the Dimensity 900 and Dimensity 800, respectively. Both platforms include octa-core CPUs and Full HD+ displays with a 120Hz refresh rate, indicating that they are aimed at mid-range phones.

The strong Cortex-A78 cores of the Dimensity 920 are clocked at 2.5GHz, while the Cortex-A55 cores are clocked at 2GHz. The GPU is a Mali-G68 MC4, and Mediatek promises that the enhanced design for power efficiency will result in up to 9% quicker gaming performance than the Dimensity 900.

The Dimensity 920 supports LPDDR4x and LPDDR5 RAM, as well as UFS 2.2 and UFS 3.1 storage, offering manufacturers more options when designing smartphones. The Dimensity 920 offers dual 5G SIM compatibility as well as VoNR service. Other features include all of the most recent Wi-Fi protocols, as well as 2x2 MIMO and Bl The Dimensity 810 chip is the first in the 6nm Dimensity 800 series, and it enables dual 5G stand-by once again, albeit with an older Cortex-A76 strong CPU core clocked at 2.4GHz and Cortex-A55 power-efficient ones of unknown speed. It has a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, as well as LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage capabilities. The Dimensity 920 offers dual 5G SIM compatibility as well as VR service.
